The Embassy of Japan in Nigeria invites applications for the Japanese Government MEXT Scholarship for Nigerian Students in 2021.

The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) of Japan offers scholarships to international students who wish to study in graduate courses at Japanese universities as Research Students (either regular students or non-regular students) under the Japanese Government (MEXT) Scholarship Program as follows.

MEXT Scholarship will be granted those who are willing to contribute to mutual understanding between Japan and their home country by participating in activities at schools and communities during their study in Japan while contributing to the internationalization of Japan. They shall also make efforts to promote relations
between the home country and Japan by maintaining close relations with the university attended after graduation, cooperating with the conducting of surveys and questionnaires, and cooperating with relevant projects and events conducted by the Japanese diplomatic mission after they return to their home countries.

Eligibility

Research Students: Postgraduate students who wish to conduct research in Japan for PhD/Master’s degrees and non-degree courses, or who are conducting research in an undergraduate department etc. Applicants generally must have been born on or after April 2, 1986 (under 35 years of age)

Undergraduate Students: Students who wish to continue their studies in Japanese universities for undergraduate degrees. Applicants generally must have been born between April 2, 1996 and April 1, 2004. (between 17 to 25 years of age)

College of Technology: Students Students who wish to study in Japan as students at a college of technology, Mechanical/Electronic Engineering, etc. Applicants generally must have been born between April 2, 1996 and April 1, 2004.(between 17 to 25 years of age)

Specialized Training College Students: Students who wish to study in Japan as a student at a specialized training college, Technology, Business, Fashion, Culture, etc. Applicants generally must have been born between April 2, 1996 and April 1, 2004 (between 17 to 25 years of age)
