The Federal Government TVET Program is an initiative of the Ministry of Education to equip young Nigerians with practical and industry-relevant skills for employment and entrepreneurship.

The Federal Government TVET Program 2026 (Technical and Vocational Education and Training) offers tuition-free training, certification, monthly stipends, and start-up support for selected trades in high-demand sectors.

Requirements

To be considered for the Technical and Vocational Education and Training, you must met the following conditions:

Short-Term Certificate (STC) Programme

  • This track is designed for individuals ready to learn a practical skill and enter the workforce quickly.
  • Valid National Identification Number (NIN)
  • Valid Bank Verification Number (BVN)
  • No prior educational qualification required.

Vocational Education & Innovation (VEI) Programme

  • This program is for individuals with some education or informal training experience, looking to deepen and formalize their skills.
  • Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) – proof of skills acquired informally or through apprenticeship
    OR
  • First School Leaving Certificate (FSLC)
    OR
  • Any form of non-formal education certificate (e.g., training from NGOs, religious institutions, nomadic education or community programs)

Benefits

The Federal Government TVET Program 2026 (Technical and Vocational Education and Training) offers;

Duration

The Short-Term Certificate (STC) Programme lasts for 6 months, while the Vocational Education & Innovation (VEI) Programme lasts for 1 year.

Required Documents

  • For the STC Programme, you need a valid National Identification Number (NIN) and Bank Verification Number (BVN).
  • For the VEI Programme, you need either Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL), First School Leaving Certificate (FSLC), or any form of non-formal education certificate.
