Heroes Help, a tri-service charity supporting members of the Nigerian Armed Forces and their families, is pleased to announce the launch of Project Lift, our flagship Scholarship Intervention. This initiative is designed to support the educational dreams of children and wards of Armed Forces personnel with priority for those who have either: Died in active service, or are living with post-service injury, disability, or significant economic hardship.
Through financial assistance, academic support, and psychosocial care, Project Lift seeks to ensure that no child of a hero is left behind in the pursuit of quality education.
Benefits
Eligible beneficiaries will receive a comprehensive education support package, which may include:
Full or partial payment of tuition and exam fees
Provision of textbooks, uniforms, and school supplies
Transport stipends (where applicable)
Access to academic tutoring and mentoring
Optional access to mental health and psychosocial support
Requirements
Applicants must meet all the following conditions:
1. Be a child, ward, or legal dependant of a Nigerian Armed Forces services member (Army, Navy, Air Force)
2. The service memeber must have either
- Died in active service, OR
- Been medically retired, injured, or living with significant post-service hardship.
- Other current serving and veteran can be considered
3. Applicants must be:
- Enrolled (or seeking enrollment) in primary, secondary, or tertiary educational institutions in Nigeria.
- Able to provide proof of school attendance or admission.
4. Demonstrate academic commitmentand potential (grades, teacher/HOD references, etc.).
5. Willing to participate in follow-up, mentoring, and community engagement activities.
Application Documents
Applicants must upload clear scanned copies of the following (in PDF or JPEG):
- Letter of introduction from unit commander / veterans’ association / local authority
- Death certificate or discharge papers of service member (where applicable)
- Proof of guardianship (if applicable)
- Most recent academic transcript or report card
- Passport photograph of applicant
- School admission or attendance letter
- Any document showing financial need (optional but recommended)
