Competition for entrance scholarships is intense at McGill. An extraordinary number of exceptional applications are received each year and, unfortunately, we cannot award scholarships to all good candidates.

To provide some guidance to scholarship hopefuls, the proposed academic standings of scholarship awardees for this upcoming fall term are listed in the table below. Some program-specific scholarships may have lower minima.

Academic background Minimum academic performance for consideration for all entrance scholarships
Quebec CEGEP MINIMUM overall cote de rendement collégial (CRC) to be determined
Canadian High School (outside Quebec and Ontario) MINIMUM 95% average on all academic grade 12 and grade 11 level courses
Ontario High School MINIMUM 95% overall average on all 3U, 3M, 4U and 4M courses
United States High School MINIMUM A average (at least 94% or GPA of 4.00, or equivalent unweighted) over last two years of full-time studies, and a minimum score of 700 in each SAT (730 on the new SAT) or 33 in the ACT. For changes to SAT scoring, please consult the McGill Enrolment Services’ website.
Overseas High School MINIMUM A average (or equivalent) over last two years of full-time study
Advanced Levels MINIMUM of 4 relevant Advanced-Level/CAPE/Pre-University subjects with minimum predicted grades of A*AAA (or equivalent) or minimum final grades of AAAA (or equivalent), plus AS results and GCSE/O-Level results at a similar level.
Exceptions: Countries where grade A* is not awarded (Caribbean CAPE,  Scotland Advanced Highers, Singapore A-Levels) will be considered on A (and equivalent) grades.
International Baccalaureate 41 subject points (not including bonus points) on predicted or final grades
French Baccalaureate MINIMUM overall average of 17, with minimum score of 14 in each course

Note: when class rank is available, it should be provided. Rank in the top 1 – 2% is expected.

The above is the PROPOSED scholarship minima for this upcoming fall term. It is possible that the minima may be lower if we should have more scholarship funds to disburse. It is also possible that the minima could be higher should we attract a greater number of qualified applicants. Please note: even if you meet the standings above, you are not guaranteed a scholarship.

Scholarship decisions are made during the admission process and are based on academic information available at that time. There is no reconsideration on additional or final results.
