The European Union in partnership with the African Union, has called for applications for its 2026 LASOMA Scholarship for African students.

The European Union LASOMA Scholarships offer fully sponsored Masters and PhD degrees that covers tuition fees, health insurance, research workshops, and a living stipend of €14,760 per year.

Eligibility Requirements

To be considered for the LASOMA Masters and PhD Scholarships, you must:

  • be national and resident of an African country at time of application.
  • possess a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant Engineering discipline.
  • Demonstrate strong academic and research potential
  • Meet the specific academic and language requirements of the host university.
  • not have previously received scholarship under any Intra-Africa Academic Mobility Scheme 2022-2027 project
  • Project targets: 30% women, 10% special needs. Applicants from under-represented groups strongly encouraged.
  • Research interests must align with LaSoMa focus areas (laser manufacturing, solar systems, climate change).
