The European Union Traineeship offers students a unique opportunity to gain firsthand experience in EU policymaking through paid placements in its offices across Europe and Africa.
In addition to the wealth of experience you would gain in an international setting, trainees will get a living stipend of €700 per month to help cover living expenses during the traineeship program to the African Union.
Eligibility Requirements
To be considered for the European Union Traineeship, you must have:
- Only applicants currently residing in Ethiopia will be considered.
- Master’s degree in political science, international relations, economics, law or other social studies
- Maximum 1 year of work experience
- Fluency in English
- Excellent analytical and drafting skills, a keen understanding of and interest in African Union’s politics, economics and governance
- A hands-on, pro-active, reliable attitude, an openness to learning, and willingness to contribute with ideas.

- On average, trainees can expect to receive approximately € per month.
- This financial support is designed to help cover living expenses during the traineeship.
- The European Union traineeship is to be held for up to 6 months within the Political, Press, and Information Section of the EU Delegation to the African Union in May 2025.
