The Government College University or GCU is a public research university located in the downtown, Lahore, Punjab, Pakistan.

The Government College University is offering Scholarships for International Students in Pakistan. Scholarships are available for pursuing undergraduate and MS/MPhil/PhD proggramme.

Course Level: Scholarships are available for pursuing undergraduate and MS/MPhil/PhD proggramme.

Scholarship Award:

  1. A) BA (Hons)/BSc (Hons)/BS (in all disciplines)

Iqbal Scholarship-UG: Iqbal scholarship for under graduates covers University fee and cost of on-campus accommodation. The scholarship does not involve any monthly stipend, airfare, research expenses and medical insurance.

Salam Scholarship-UG: Salam scholarship for under graduates covers 85% University tuition fee and 50% on-campus accommodation. It does not involve any monthly stipend, airfare, research expenses and medical insurance.

GCU Scholarship-UG: GCU Scholarship for under graduates covers 50% University fee and 50% on-campus accommodation.  It does not involve any monthly stipend, airfare, research expenses and medical insurance.

  1. B) MS/MPhil/PhD Scholarships

Iqbal Research Scholarship: Iqbal Research Scholarship for MS/MPhil/PhD covers University fee and cost of on-campus accommodation. It does not involve any monthly stipend, airfare, research expenses and medical insurance.

Salam Research Scholarship: Salam Research Scholarship for MS/MPhil/PhD covers 85% University fee and cost of on-campus accommodation. It does not involve any monthly stipend, airfare, research expenses and medical insurance.

GCU Research Scholarship: GCU Research Scholarship for under graduates covers 70% University fee and cost of on-campus accommodation.  It does not involve any monthly stipend, airfare, research expenses and medical insurance.

Salam Scholarship-UG: Four scholarships (two for male and two for female) in each discipline.

GCU Scholarship-UG: Eight scholarships (four for male and four for female) in each discipline.

  1. B) MS/MPhil/PhD Scholarships

Iqbal Research Scholarship: Two scholarships (each for male and female) in each discipline.

Salam Research Scholarship: Four scholarships (two for male and two for female) in each discipline.

GCU Research Scholarship: Eight scholarships (four for male and four for female) in each discipline.

Eligibility Criteria:

  1. A) BA (Hons)/BSc (Hons)/BS (in all disciplines)

Iqbal Scholarship-UG:

  • Applicants with distinction/80 percent marks in the previous degree (equivalent to A levels, 12 years of education) are eligible for this.
  • The student must ensure 80 percent marks in each semester to secure scholarship for the next semester.Students from Sri Lanka, Syria, Palestine, Afghanistan, Iraq, Iran, Sudan, Somalia, Kosovo and Bosnia are especially encouraged to apply. Female applicants will be preferred.

Salam Scholarship-UG

  • Award of scholarship will be decided by the scholarship committee after considering individual cases on the basis of academic credentials, background of war torn regions, gender (females will be preferred) and minority community (in their respective countries).
  • The student must ensure 70 percent marks in each semester to secure scholarship for the next semester.

GCU Scholarship-UG

  • Award of scholarship will be decided by the scholarship committee after considering individual cases on the basis of academic credentials, background of war torn regions, gender (females will be preferred) and minority community (in their respective countries).
  • The student must ensure 60 percent marks in each semester to secure scholarship for the next semester.
  1. B) MS/MPhil/PhD Scholarships

Iqbal Research Scholarship

  • Outstanding academic/publication record, strong research proposal and references.
  • The awardee must maintain 3.50 CGPA in coursework to secure scholarship for the next semester.
  • Students from Sri Lanka, Syria, Palestine, Afghanistan, Iraq, Iran, Sudan, Somalia, Kosovo and Bosnia are especially encouraged to apply. Female applicants will be preferred.

Salam Research Scholarship

  • Excellent academic/publication record, strong research proposal and references.
  • The awardee must maintain 3.00 CGPA in coursework to secure scholarship for the next semester.

GCU Research Scholarship

  • Excellent academic/publication record, strong research proposal and references.
  • The awardee must maintain 2.70 CGPA in coursework to secure scholarship for the next semester.

Nationality: International students are eligible to apply.

College Admission Requirement

Entrance Requirement: Applications must have previous degree.

Test Requirement:  No

English Language Requirement: Applicants whose first language is not English are usually required to provide evidence of proficiency in English at the higher level required by the University.

Method of Application: 

Foreign students seeking admission shall email the filled admission form along with relevant documents to the Admission Office (isa-at-gcu.edu.pk) to get the letter of confirmation of provisional admission on the recommendation of the concerned department. Then the student will approach the Pakistani Mission Embassy abroad for Visa and will submit the following documents:

  • Application Form (Student Visa Form)
  • Photocopy of passport
  • Photograph
  • Educational Documents
  • Admission Letter of University
  • All other documents required by the Pakistani Mission abroad.

Visa to be issued for duration of studies will be renewed annually, inclusive of security clearance.
