The SOAS University of London is inviting applications for its 2026 CAMHRA Scholarship for UK and Overseas candidates.
The SOAS University of London CAMHRA Masters Scholarship is a full tuition fee study opportunity for incoming students to pursue postgraduate study and research in the anthropology of mental health.
Eligibility Requirements
To be considered for the CAMHRA Masters Scholarship, you must:
- be UK or Overseas applicants.
- hold a minimum 2:1 bachelor’s degree in a social science or humanities subject; OR in health sciences including medicine, psychology, nursing, social work. (For the scholarship for MA Medical Anthropology and Mental Health)
- hold a minimum 2:1 bachelor’s or masters degree. Applicants without a prior degree in anthropology must have a prior masters in another field. (For MRes Social Anthropology)
- have a strong idea for a research project that uses ethnographic methods to understand an issue related to mental health.
- have submitted their application to the MA or MRes programme at SOAS but are not required to have received an offer of admission by the scholarship deadline.Â
Benefits
- The CAMHRA Scholarship seeks to support outstanding applicants to pursue postgraduate study and research in the anthropology of mental health.
- They are fee-only scholarships, running yearly until 2028/29, with the full-time equivalent of three overseas fees and four home fees places available each year.
Eligible programmes
- Full-time (1 year) or part-time (2 years) MA Medical Anthropology and Mental Health beginning in 2026/27.
- Full-time (1 year) or part-time (2 years) MRes Social Anthropology starting in 2026/27.
