The Konrad Adenauer Foundation is pleased to announce the launch of the 2026 KAS Scholarships for international students to study and research in Germany.

The Konrad Adenauer Stiftung KAS Germany Scholarship 2026 provides funding that includes a monthly stipend of €1,400, a family allowance of €276, and €1,500 per semester for fees related to your courses at the university in Germany.

Requirements:

To be considered for the KAS Germany Scholarship 2025, applicants must:

  • have a university degree, as we do not provide support for bachelor studies,
  • prove above average academic performance,
  • have good knowledge of the German language (B2-level),
  • be actively engaged in voluntary work,
  • plan to study a minimum of four semesters at a university in Germany,
  • possess a broad general education and distinct interest in political issues,
  • have a positive attitude towards democracy and human rights,
  • be open to develop their personal points of view and practice tolerance,
  • be highly motivated and able to convince us of their goals in life.

Duration and Reward

  • For Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Postgraduate programs, recipients can receive up to €992 per month in scholarship funding. The standard duration of support is two years.
  • For doctoral candidates, the scholarship provides up to €1,400 per month. The standard funding duration for doctoral studies is three years.
  • Additional allowances are available upon request. These include a health insurance subsidy of up to €120 per month, a family allowance of €276 if your spouse resides in Germany for more than three months, and a child allowance of €250 per child with proper documentation.
  • Scholars may also apply for research travel grants abroad (excluding conference visits), as well as a partial reimbursement of university tuition fees—up to €750 per semester in exceptional cases.

Required Documents

To apply, candidates must submit the following documents;

  • A meaningful CV in tabular form including details about your previous voluntary work or social commitment.
  • Motivation letter.
  • Copies of your examination certificates in German translation if the originals are not in English.
  • Copies of your studies performance records if you have been studying at a University in Germany.
  • Proof of German language skills (B 2).
  • An informal academic letter of recommendation
  • An informal letter of recommendation concerning the applicant’s personality
  • Certificate of admission or matriculation from your university in Germany.

If you are applying for a PhD-Scholarship, please add the following documents:

  • A detailed description of your doctoral thesis
  • A second academic letter of recommendation
  • A confirmation of supervision by your doctor-father or -mother.
