Global Schools (GS) is an initiative led by the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network in support of UNESCO’s Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) for 2030 Roadmap. Its mission is to empower schools and teachers globally to educate students on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Global Citizenship.
The vision of the program is to generate interest about sustainable development in schools in an effort to educate and engage students with the SDGs and Global Citizenship and to encourage them to prioritize the goals in their lifestyles, behaviors, education, and professional careers.

Requirements
The ideal candidate will have significant experience in planning and managing events. Additionally, he/she will have:
- The ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team, with limited supervision.
- Demonstrated experience in organizing, coordinating and moderating events; with international experience considered a plus.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong interpersonal abilities.
- A flexible, target-driven, and proactive approach to their work.
- A cooperative approach to working with stakeholders and the team.
- High integrity in modeling SDSN’s values and ethical standards.
- Appreciation for diversity and the ability to work with team members across time zones.
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to be flexible and adaptable to changing environments.
- A commitment to delivering high-quality results.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Knowledge of sustainable development and a passion for the mission of Global Schools, including the pursuit of the Sustainable Development Goals and the Paris Agreement on climate change.
- At least two years of demonstrated experience in event management, either online or in-person.
- Demonstrated team player with excellent interpersonal skills and ability to motivate and work with others across various regions.
- Time to commit to this role – candidates with too many overlapping commitments are advised not to apply.
- Strong computer skills and experience working with various communications and management software (i.e. Google Suite, Excel, WhatsApp, etc.)
- Excellent command of the English language, including writing, speaking and listening.
Selection Process
CONDITIONS
- Location:Â This position will be remote.
- Hours:Â This position requires at least 10 hours per week.
- Training: The candidate is required to complete all Global Schools/SDSN Youth online induction courses and complete the Global Schools onboarding process.
- Supervision:Â This position operates under the leadership of the Operations Team Lead and under the strategic supervision of the Global Director.
- Compensation:Â This position is voluntary, UNPAID
- Duration of Position:Â January 2026 – December 2026. This position requires a minimum commitment of 12 months, with a 3-month probation period.
- Start Date:Â January 2026.
- Deadline: December 31st, 2025
