The Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program has partnered with the University of Global Health Equity to offer scholarships for African students.

The fully funded UGHE Mastercard Foundation Scholarship covers tuition fees, living stipends, travel costs, accommodation, and the cost of study materials- such as laptop.

Eligibility Requirements

To be considered for the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program at UGHE, you must:

  • Be Africans, young women, persons with disabilities, and young people who have been forcibly displaced or have refugee status within the African continent.
  • Have matriculated and successfully graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in a health-related field.
  • Be 35 or under the year at the time of application (exceptions apply to applicants with disabilities). 
  • Be committed to developing the skills and mindsets associated with transformative leadership.
  • Be extremely talented individuals who might have faced barriers to quality higher education.
  • Have demonstrated commitment to community service and health equity through active involvement beyond the classroom.

  • Apply to be a Mastercard Foundation Scholar at the University of Global Health Equity 
  • Both MGHD and MHPE programs have specific requirements and deadlines. Applicants should carefully review these.
  • Fill in the online application, which includes an application for the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program, entering the required personal, academic, demographic information and the required information for the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program. 
  • Upload all supporting documents (Passport, National ID or Refugee ID, academic transcript/s, and degree certificate, employer recommendation letter – if applicable).
