The University of East Anglia is offering a fully funded scholarship for students who wants to study with them. The Sainsbury Laboratory (TSL) offers the prestigious David Sainsbury Scholarships in Global Plant Health to a limited number of applicants on the MSc in Global Plant Health.
Benefits
1. The David Sainsbury Full MSc Scholarship
Each full scholarship will cover up to:
- the full cost of the tuition fee (£37,200 international fee for 2026-27, £18,850 UK fee)
- maintenance grant (exact value at the UKRI postgraduate researcher stipend level to be determined for 2026-27; in 2025-26 it was £20,780)
- an additional £4,000 for travel costs (subject to valid economy class travel receipts)
2. The David Sainsbury 50% Fee Scholarship
Each 50% fee scholarship will cover up to up to 50% of the full cost of the tuition fee (50% of either £18,850 UK or £37,200 international fees for 2026-27), minus any other awards or scholarships you are in possession of that cover more than 50% of the fee.

Requirements
1. The David Sainsbury Full MSc Scholarship
You are eligible for a full scholarship under these terms if you meet all these criteria:
- You are in receipt of an offer of a place on the UEA MSc in Global Plant Health
- You are a national of or domiciled in a least-developed, low-income, or lower-middle-income country or territory as defined by the Overseas Development Agency Development Assistance Committee (DAC) list, version 2026-27 for entry in 2026-27 academic year.
There are a limited number of scholarships available and these will be awarded throughout the year, so you are advised to apply early.
2. The David Sainsbury 50% Fee Scholarship
You are eligible for a full scholarship under these terms if you meet all these criteria:
- You are in receipt of an offer of a place on the UEA MSc in Global Plant Health
- You are not a national of or domiciled in a least-developed, low-income, or lower-middle-income country or territory as defined by the Overseas Development Agency Development Assistance Committee (DAC) list, version 2024-25 for entry in 2025-26 academic year. For example, you are a national of and domiciled in an upper-middle income country or higher income country (including the UK) according to this list.

- To be considered for this scholarship, you need to apply for your place on the MSc in Global Plant Health.
- Provided you meet the eligibility criteria, you will automatically be considered for the scholarship, on a competitive basis – no separate application is required.
- You will be evaluated for the scholarship based on the same criteria used to evaluate your application to enrol on the course. The criteria are:
- academic achievement and academic awards together with knowledge/experience/potential of molecular biology, genetics, molecular interactions, data science such as bioinformatics and statistics, laboratory skills, and independent study.
