The MTN Media Innovation Programme (MIP) is a 6-week long programme spread across six months for media practitioners in the Nigerian space. The programme will increase the knowledge and skill base of the participants and help them understand the changing media landscape, and how to effectively use technology to create impactful media content.

The six-month, fully funded fellowship for Nigerian media practitioners is designed to support the sustainable development of the nation’s changing media scene. It is open to media practitioners across the spectrum, including print, electronic, online platforms and social media content creators. The course is designed to give participants a greater understanding of Nigeria’s technology sector and the nexus between media and technology; it will also leave participants better able to adapt to changing realities. Fellows will also have access to professional resources and mentorship from the SMC faculty.

Every participant will experience improved knowledge in three broad areas:

  • The Telecoms industry
  • Media Innovation
  • Writing & Reporting With expert guidance, mentorship, and a supportive community of fellow media professionals, you will gain the skills and knowledge you need to make a real impact in the industry.

Benefits

  • 33 Days in Class: All accepted candidates will spend 33 days in class in the course of the training.
  • 7 Days in South Africa: An all expense paid trip to SouthAfrica for a 7 days training.
  • 1 Day in MTN Nigeria Headquarters: Candidates will be tutored at the MTN Nigeria Headquarters and MTN Group Headquarters.
  • 1 Industry Visits and Tours: A one day training at the Innovation Hub.

Requirements

  • Must be a media professional/practitioner
  • Must have a valid International Passport
  • Must pass a written test and any subsequent interviews
  • Must get a written release from employers to participate in the programme
